  1. zxr250 LAMS question

    Hey all,

So the N.S.W RTA LAMS list states that all motorcycles with an engine capacity under 260ml are approved with the exception of:

    Suzuki - RGV250
    Kawasaki - KR250 (KR-1 and KR1s models)
    Honda - NSR250
    Yamaha - TZR250
    Aprila - RS250

So that covers zxr250's, after a lot of research I've discovered that my 1992 zxr 250 is a D1 model aka zxr250r sp model (sports production) check link for details.

    http://www23.tok2.com/home/sil40/page008.html

I know that after 1992 all models were restricted to 39hp (due to changes in chinese law) but previouse models were 45hp so 89-92 (production date not import date).

So my question is would my 1992 unrestricted zxr250r sp model technically be learner legal? e.g under the power to weight ratio? And if so would that make it the fastest/most powerful LAMS bike?

BTW it has LAMS on the rego label.

    Thanks phat
