ZX7R 1997 fuel problems

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by cliffy, Jul 27, 2011.

  1. I have a 97 ZX7r. Rode it home from the dealers, took the tank off and cleaned the plugs, checked filter etc, gave it an oil change and now it starts, runs until hot in the garage but when i take it for a ride it just stops for no apparent reason.

I filled the tank with fuel, took it for another ride, it went further but still stopped.

All I touched was the air cleaner and tank and plugs. Have I neglected to attach a vacuum hose or something stupid like that?

It feels like a vacuum block or it's running out of fuel.

I'd start with vacuum as you've said.

If it's a vacuum fuel tap, try running it on prime & see if that fixes it, if it does, definitely vacuum related.
  3. It has an electric fuel pump.
  4. tank vent or fuel, vacuum line not fitting properly.
  5. That's what I'm thinking, it started after I took the tank off then stopped again after I put it back on and rode it...
