zx2r restricted

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by Nimrod's Son, Dec 22, 2007.

  1. I've read recently that post 1993 bikes were restricted to 40hp, down from 45. How would they have achieved this? My bike redlines at 19000rpm like the older bikes. If it was as simple as replacing my muffler with an after market race can, then I think it would be worth it for the gains.

    Anybody have knowledge or suggestions?
  2. Throttle bodies and carby jets are probably different.

You can get a custom kit or work done to enlargen these. But just wait or get a bigger bike. There's only a marginal gain to be had.
  3. +1

Whats the point, unless you're racing it?
  4. In the 250s when they went to 40hp it was from restricted ignition, and in the case of the CBR, it also had something done to the head as well.
