News Yamaha Girls Snare 1-2 Finish At Sydney Enduro-X

  1. Yamaha topped the podium at round two of the Australian Enduro-X championship with Tayla Jones taking out an impressive round win on her YZ250FX ahead of fellow Yamaha rider, Jemma Wilson.

Jones, who joined Yamaha for season 2015 is enjoying a great start to her year and with Yamaha, and now leads the Female class at the Enduro- X with a second place finish and a win at the opening two rounds.

Her win in the final was a comfortable victory with her best lap nearly three seconds in advance of her nearest rivals. Jones credits some of her new found speed to former off road champion, Kirk Hutton, who has taken on a mentoring role with Talya and the pair work closely together on racing skills and techniques.

She is now leading the championship with one round remaining in Melbourne on March 14.

"Everything went really well on the weekend and I'm pretty excited to get the win," Jones states. "I tried not to make too many mistakes and not take any big risks because it was a difficult course and very easy to fall on.

"I'm leading the championship now with one round to go but anything can happen in Enduro-X so I will need another good night in Melbourne to get the championship.

"Thank you to the promoters of the event for another great night, all the people who came out to watch and my sponsors for their support," Jones finished.

After a disappointing opening round, Jemma Wilson bounced back to a podium finish at round two, taking second place in a good performance for the Queensland based rider.

Wilson was fifth in the opening round but vowed to improve at round two and that's exactly what happened. Her combined 5-2 results put her in fourth place in the championship but the points are tight and a good final round will catapult her onto the championship podium.

"Round two was much better for me," Jemma explains. "I felt a lot more comfortable on the track and didn't make anywhere near as many mistakes as I did in the opening round.

"It's good to be up on the podium and it would be nice to go one better at the final round."

The final round of the Australian Enduro-X championship will be held at Melbourne's Calder Park Raceway on March 14.
