XTZ660 not starting.

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by NoFearNick, Sep 16, 2011.

  1. I had it serviced last year and all was good. Ive had it in storage for nearly a year and wont turn over but wont ignite. Battery is new. spark plug, oil were all good as of last year. I think it might be that the carb is clogged and needs to be drained but i cant find the drain screw. Getting it to the garage would be to much of a pain so id want to do it myself if possible. Any ideas would be great. I need to have it reregistered by the 2 october.

  2. you'd want to thro the old fuel out !!
  3. xt660z is fuel injected.
  4. Sorry Jimmy i should have said its a 1996 model so its not fuel injected.
  5. Stale fuel would be about top of the list.
  6. Empty carby bowls and insufficient turning to fire up the fuel pump to fill them?
If so try to get it to fire with some start ya bastard or the like in the air intake.

You did say spark was good last year. How is it this year?

I assume the kill switch is switched correctly - never hurts to check.
