xt500 yamaha resto

  1. Hi there
    I'm in the throes of restoring a 1980 XT500.
For anyone else doing a bike resto, I can recommend Impact Glass Bead Blasting at Blacktown NSW who did a great job - frame , swingarm, triple clamps and a bunch of small bits for $320 and had it done quickly.
If you want the name of a very good engine rebuilder, call me on 94563192.
Anyone got a good airbox for the XT, also a suitable plastic rear guard and a chainguard?
Also, anyone converted an XT to 12 volt? Are SR parts a simple conversion?

  2. Hey Filthyphil, maybe try the guys in the vintage japanese motorcycle club. There's a good chance that someone there will have or know where to get your parts. Their website is www.vjmc.org.au
    Hope that helps.
