XJR1300 Engine into XJR1200 Frame

Discussion in 'Modifications and Projects' at netrider.net.au started by Eddo, Jun 29, 2010.

  1. Hi there

Some advice please....is the fitting of a 2007 XJR1300 engine into a 1998 XJR 1200 fairly straight forward? To my untrained eyes apart from the carby/ Fuel injection differences it looks to be pretty much a straight swap.

  2. Only way to find out is to try it

Any big air-cooled four will generally go where any other big air-cooled four has been, so you should be OK, even if a bit of hacksaw work is required. The trouble with the Japanese manufacturers is their tendency to make stuff that looks superficially similar from year to year but which, when you actually try it, is just different enough to screw you up. The usual point to find this out is when you've got an engine in your arms that won't quite go in and your knees are starting to buckle under the weight .
  3. Gets a bit of a mention here. Might be the place to start.
