WRC Fans?

Discussion in 'The Pub' at netrider.net.au started by Roarin, Mar 27, 2011.

  1. Anyone else here a fan? By crikey those boys have balls the size of Watermelons. Check out the onboard footage from Yari-Matti Latvila's car in the latest round in Portugal if you get a chance:shock::shock::eek:hno: I must admit I get a certain satisfaction watching Ken Block crashing his way out of numerous events over the last season.
Anyway, who's gunna' try to name a winner for this season? So far the new 1600 cars are proving pretty close in pace. I can't pick between Hirvonen, Latvila, Loeb or Ogier. Anyone care to guess? Discuss.

  2. Jari-Matti in 09, portugal

    Jari-Matti in 10, portugal
  3. they make F1 etc look like a bunch of pussies.
  4. Really hard to say, lots of variables here, possibly Loeb, but it's a long shot..
  5. Yep, love WRC.

Faves were Mark Lovell ( RIP ), Juha Kankkunen and of course, Michelle Mouton.

These guys and gals are by far the best steerers on the planet. They make V8 and F1 drivers look very soft indeed.
  6. I used to watch it, until everyone but Ford and Citro├źn left. I'm a Mitsubishi guy through and through, so it got about as exciting as the Supertaxis after that.
I will agree that they're the best drivers on the planet. Schumacher and friends have nothing on the rally guys.
  7. You sound like you're from the same era as me. I remember my Dad talking about Ari Vatanen, when he was driving the Escort. He reckoned you could not recognise what model of car it was after he finished the rally of NZ. He he he.
Then the totally awesome group B cars. Literally F1 cars on gravel. Ahhh -the good old days.
Still, I reckon the new rules seem to have gone a long way to promote interest from the other manufacturer's. The cars are certainly more lively and entertaing to watch.
  8. I used to be a big fan, but I agree with a number of ex fans, once all the other companies pulled out, it got a little bit boring, used to love it when the likes on Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Subaru were all in there fighting tooth and nail.

It's kind of like the V8 Boringcars, same 2 companies fighting it out all the time....Yawn!
  9. Tommi Makinen, Walter Rohrl, Stig Blomqvist in the fire breathing Quattro... good memories.
Enjoyed watching Petter Solberg trying like blazes in an uncompetitive car (and almost doing it). And Henning spitting the dummy
