  1. With the amount of speed cameras, undercover bikes/cars and built up areas why be so bloody stupid?

    Code:
A HOON motorcyclist has been clocked at almost double the speed limit on a suburban Melbourne road.
The rider was nabbed travelling at 153km in an 80km/h stretch of Stud Rd near the Knox shopping centre complex.

The 19-year-old was travelling on a bike more powerful than is legal for a learner rider.

He was intercepted at 11.45am by traffic officer Leading Senior Constable Mark Dewey, who was on an unmarked police bike.

Leading Sen-Constable Dewey said police unmarked bikes would be on the road patrolling for other irresponsible road-users.

``This is a bloke that shouldn’t be on the road and we’ve been able to do something about it with the use of the unmarked solo,'' he said.

The rider will be charged on summons to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates' Court.

  2. Why would you do this in melbourne streets?

victorias so tight on speed at the best of times.

take the guys licence for life. not for speeding but for being dumb enough to be caught

  3. probably a regular occurrence for this rider. Do anything enough in the same spot your going to get nicked, That being said Stud road is a suitably stupid place to do that.

  4. Especially when you have a large police complex opposite Knox City shopping centre, about 50/100 metres from Stud Rd.

Anyway, I'm sure he's learned his lesson now.

  5. +1, It's a divided road, so Northbound the road buldup is appropriate for a spurt. Southbound there's side streets every few hundred metres and idiots trying to figure out how to steer into knox city. Either direction the road surface is shit.

(And come on, major police station AND home of the World-famous Knox TMU? What an idiot for doing it round there!)

he shouldn't of been riding it in the first place  and if he is willing to do that what makes them think he won't just ride unlicensed

  10. It's fast but not a record breaker. I'm still waiting for read a thread which beats the 263km/h a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR got clocked at in Sydney many years ago

  11. Well, internationally;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_ticket
The Koenigsegg ticket is only alleged, but the two UK tickets were convictions, with citations. 175mph = 280kph. Zooooooooom.

  13. They don't actually mention the size of the bike, but actually, on a decent thou he can get to zip up to that speed without much fuss at all. It's really just a quick blast and then back down to the speed limit again after clicking into 2nd.
A 600 will do it easily as well - just have to wanna do it more, that's all..

What's that oft repeated phrase - "time and place"...he did'nt pick it..
    Nonga!
    John.

  14. Heck, with a lot of patience, even one of the more powerful learner-legal bikes will reach 153kph - if only just. VTR250 tops out around 145-150, but anything with a little more power and better streamlining.....

  15. they say its more powerful than a learner can ride, but they haven't said if he was a learner... (but one can assume)

  16. The cop was probably racing him. I've seen them do it. They come just behind you so you can just see them out the corner of your eye and they "push" you along. It's almost entrapment.

  17. I can see someone getting pushed up a little by that, say 90 – 100 in an 80 zone…
But by 153… You have consciously made the decision to go quick.

Though as raven indicated, he could have just given it a quick blip to pass someone…
Though 153… that does sound a little far fetched.
