Who's got the best garage / gear setup?

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by GeorgeO, Mar 18, 2016.

  1. So I recently moved into our newly built home in Sydney and since the garage is still a "blank canvas" was hoping to get inspiration from any other Netriders out there who think they have any good and neat ideas.

I have a standard double garage with a small 3x3m rear 'extension' behind the rh side car bay with it's own single roller door to the rear. Extension is meant to be my bike corner for all the bike bits and gear.

So please show me your garage and gear layout. I need some inspiration.

  2. We have a single lock up garage for our three bikes... IT'S CRAMPED! But one thing that makes it bearable is this cube system... Each cube is pretty big and as you can see can fit helmets, gear and odds and sods in it.

  3. School lockers GeorgeOGeorgeO. The big old ones. Retro cool and you can close the door and lock up your gear. They're really high and use valuable vertical space to save room for....oh I don't know....a second or third bike?

  5. This is a brilliant idea. Imagine how many partners would be pleasantly surprised if caves everywhere were tidied up for the photo! And if a woman won it, do we still call it a man cave?

It's kind of hard to tell from pics. My race bike is up on a raised platform. Makes it easier to work on and has caster's on the bottom to move it around easily. Then has a shelf under it for bike related stuff.
Next is a couple of baskets hanging on the wall with bits and pieces for bikes.

Using all the available space for bikes nice and close to each other.

Oil in large drums on another shelf

How do you get the race bike on top?

IMAG0769. IMAG0767. lots of work still to do.

Don't like the current gear rack, need to neaten up the workbench, and move the biked into the back.

Just up a ramp. First gear a little bit of throttle and no effort.......;)

    It's neater than mine!!!!

I reckon I've got more jammed in though lol.
I might take a pic from the length of mine

jonnymacjonnymac - I can clearly see you have too few bikes. 4 plus the trackie.

GoldenberriGoldenberri - shall we call it a bike cave then?

I can picture that going wrong a few ways....plus the resultant YouTube clip!

GeorgeOGeorgeO It's actually 5 plus the trackie lol just the kx is at my mates place atm.

There was an R1 and a ZX10R for a little while but it was too crowded

Nah I've got it down pat. It's how they go on the trailer too.

I don't ride them just walk next to them. That's the key so you don't end up on the tube......lol

I find this useful. Bought from second hand shop.

Have a look at my video on parking in a small space.

  13. I think I saw some of those at Super cheap. I have a bike trolley I use for the KTM (in one of my pictures above) and intend to get a spider hoist (Kunegg) for the MV to make servicing and moving easier.

  18. All our gear lives in the spare room....bikes take up left hand side of garage...no problems, unless another bike is purchased which means my car will live outside...that is a no go lol
