Which Oggy Knobbs?

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by Pedro78, Aug 29, 2008.

  1. Hi Guys,

Im looking at getting some Oggy Knobs for my cbr600f4i.
There appears to be 2 different types.

Type 1 – Light Duty – Enlarge existing holes to 15mm

Type 2 – Requires cutting a 50mm holes in both sides of fairing

At this stage im leaning towards type 1 for the simple fact that they appear quicker and easier to install.
Im a bit hesitant about option 2 incase i dont line up to hole correctly when cutting the fairings.
Just wondering which type other people have gone with?
Will type 1 offer enough protection or are you better off going for the type 2?
  2. I tried to get the type 1 and there was only 1 (not one set, just one) left in the factory and they were not going make new ones.
So I ordered some from http://www.oesaccessories.com/F4/F4i.html
First impressions was they are small and won't do that much if you slide the bike. But if you drop the bike from a standstill they might help.
I didn't want to cut my fairings so this was my only choice.

    I thought these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hond...m14QQhashZitem140261438345QQitemZ140261438345
look interesting and much stronger but he wanted $40US for shipping to Aus..
  3. Be careful with crash knobs / sliders Pedro. The wrong ones can cause a significant amount of damage to your bike in a fall. Ask around (like you're doing), but you will probably get better answers on bike-specific forums, chances are they have fitted quite a few types / brands and could point you in the right direction.
Two brands which seem to have a very good reputation are Oggy and R&G.
