Which chain is it?

  1. Hi guys just needing a little help determining what I'll be having to have a look at and replace in order to save a little time with repairs.

The other day I hit the go button on the R1 and gave it a wind up when all of a sudden I heard a whiney, chainey sort of rattle start to come from the bike. When I began to slow down the bike made the sort of noise that a bike makes when it is slowing down if you battery just decides to go dead mid-ride (hopefully I'm making some sort of sense here!) Bike still rides and accelerates O.K. but the whiney rattle still remains. Just wondering if I'm looking at a timing chain here?

Cheers and thanks very much for any assistance,

  2. cam chain/timing chain = same thing?
  3. So you have ruled out the p!ss weak R1 clutch?
  4. Haha yeah mate it's definitely not that but I wish it was to tell you the truth so I'd have an excuse to upgrade to a later model ;)
