  1. yo!

my fav is the guy who bought $15,000.00 box o cigars and had them insured for, amoung other things, FIRE

so he made a claim that his cigars were destroyed in 'a series of little fires'

the judged admitted this case was frivilous but found the cigars were insured against fire and the insurance company were forced to uphold to their agreement

as soon as he banked his cheque, the insurer charged him with arson

    whats yours?

  2. Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $780,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving toddler was Ms Robertson's son.
  3. This is my favourite

In November, Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32 foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having joined the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the Winnie left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the handbook that he could not actually do this. He was awarded $1,750,000 plus a new Winnebago.

The bad news is it is fake!!

Check out http://www.stellaawards.com/ for the real awards - but the fake ones are a cracker too!!

For those not in the know, The Stella Awards were inspired by Stella Liebeck. In 1992, Stella, then 79, spilled a cup of McDonald's coffee onto her lap, burning herself. A New Mexico jury awarded her $2.9 million in damages - see http://www.stellaawards.com/stella.html for the whole story (and it's true!)

  4. $2.9 million for a hot-coffee-in-lap burn? Gee she must have been a real charmer!
  5. You know what these 79 year olds are like!!!
  6. without clicking on the link i can tell you that stella's coffee was above 70 degrees [norm coffe temp], and near boiling point [100]. she said she know it was hot but not THAT hot.

also, stella couldnt piss naturally again after that day, so, you know, some times you hear of courts making strange choices but once you get the background you can kind o see why

    cheers
