What's an SSV?

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by removed-6, May 9, 2006.

  1. I'm wondering when a bike manufacturer refers to Motorcycles, ATV's and SSV's, what does SSV stand for? I'm probably just having brain fade, but don't know.

  2. It's a quad motorcycle. It gets its name from Side X Side wheeled Vehicle hence SSV
  3. Hmm, I wouldn't have thought it would have been used as equal or similiar to a bike and ATV .. maybe what I think it stands for isn't correct?
Anyway, my understanding is that SSV is Speed Sensitive Valving. Sensors are on the forks to adjust dampening levels based on travel speed. Would be used on both ATV and bikes.
  4. Yank terminology that we don't use I gather?
  5. Cool, so it's like those little buggy things, makes sense, thanks.
