So I was having a conversation with a CanAm Spider owner the other day. They're a mate, so there was a fair amount of good humoured ribbing and piss taking going on. Anyway, it got me thinking. What is a motorcycle to you? To me a motorcycle has 2 wheels, 'centrally mounted' motor, with drive to rear wheel via chain, belt or shaft. Steering is done by the front wheel via handlebars. You ride motorcycles. Anything with 2 wheels but the engine mounted at the rear, regardless of number of wheels is not a motorcycle, they are scooters. You ride scooters. Anything with 3 wheels isn't a motorcycle. They are either trikes or outfits (in the case of a motorcycle with a sidecar attached). You don't ride trikes or outfits, you drive them. Then there's another contraption I've seen. It's a motorcycle, usually a Harley, with what can only be described as oversized training wheels attached to the rear. The rear wheel still does the driving. I don't know what to call that. But for the bloke I know who has one, it makes sense - he's got fcuked knees. Your thoughts?
