What bikes featured in the Aussie movie "Stone"

Discussion in 'Multimedia' at netrider.net.au started by sonicbaz, Jul 27, 2006.

  1. I actually saw this movie years ago, not a rider back then at all. Does anyone know what bikes were featured in the movie? I gather it refelected on people's choice in the 70's too?

    Cheers for any help....

  3. Probably Z1s. The Z900s came out around 1976 or thereabouts. The character Stone rode a Norton.

An interesting tidbit. I remember reading Two Wheels and it was reviewing the movie. There was a comment about Stone servicing his bike. The author made the comment that went something like; "Using a hammer on a Norton I can understand, but refering to a Suzuki workshop manual???"

  7. Most of the bikes were Kawasaki Z1's not Z900's.

The Z1 (like I owned, restored and sold... yes I'm an idiot) had a single disk front end and larger carbies (28mm?) and had 900 Double Overhead Camshafts on the sidecovers. The first Z1 also had finned engine covers but that was dropped on the 2nd Z1 (like mine).

The Z900 (like a mate owned and sold... yes he's an idiot too) had some extra frame bracing, had twin front disks, smaller carbies (26mm?) and had Z900 on the side covers.

And yes 'Stone' rode a british twin (I think the earlier poster is correct when they said Norton but I'm not 100% sure).
