VTR250 Replacing rear brake lever

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by James999, Nov 10, 2011.

  1. All

Has anyone replaced a rear brake lever for a VTR250?

I have a bent lever, I will be able to source a replacement, however does anyone have any hints on what I need to take apart to be able to remove and replace it?

    Thanks for all advice provided..

  2. Yes :)

It's held on by a circlip and a washer. Either get a circlip tool from a hardware store; or prise it off with needlenose pliers and a screwdriver and lose it when it goes "sproinggg" and flies across the garage.

Then the lever just slides off its pin.

    Reverse for reinstallation.
  3. Thanks, based on your information wokwon, I will be attempting it myself....
  4. failing that, break out the big get ****ed mallet
  5. To complete the job, I did remove the Circlip and washer,

In addition I removed the bolt that connected the exhaust, and the complete metal piece where the brake and foot pegs connect to. (Hint there is a bolt behind the black plastic)

So job done... and got a straight rear brake lever

Hopefully the above information answers future queries for similar changes... :)
