VTR1000f crash/Oggy knobs brackets bad?

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' at netrider.net.au started by Ampto, Sep 6, 2011.

  1. After seeing a post on another forum I couldn't find and definite answers about this.

Are crash knobs that require no cuts to the fairing but instead use brackets for mounting potentially damaging to the frame of the vtr?

The theory is that the bracket when taking the force of a large impact is pushed back into the frame cutting into it or simply shears off.

Any vtr owners have any experience with this? I have recently purchased a 2002 vtr1000 as my first large bike and considering some crash protectors, loving the bike so far.

  2. Hey mate, can't help with any info but good to hear your enjoying the bike, I plan on getting one in a few months. My old man had one new back in 98 & hung on to it for six years so that's saying something.
