VTR 250 - Adjustable suspension ?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by Wanderer, Jan 28, 2005.

  1. Does anyone know on a late model VTR 250 whether the rear suspension can be manually adjusted? The specs state something along the lines of preloaded adjustable tension, but there is no mention of what this means. I understand on some bikes you can adjust the suspension? Or am I just totally on the wrong track?

  2. There should be a preload adjustment at the very least on the VTR250, this is usually in the form of a ring with a stepped pattern located on the rear shock. Turning this (using an appropriate tool) will adjust the amount of preload by compressing or relaxing the spring, factory setting is usually somewhere in the middle.
