VT750c gearbox issue

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by orangeninja10, Apr 12, 2014.

  1. hi everyone
i've been riding my wife's vt750c and lately out of nowhere the bike will kick back a gear after just upshifting mainly 2nd-3rd or 4th-5th but it does it very randomly ie, once or twice a week. I've adjusted the clutch cable which fixed it for a while but now i also get a random soft gear lever as well.
i've checked the oil and it looks fine. I'm not too mechanically brained so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

  2. Very likely the clutch, slacken off the cable so it is nice and loose, lever end and motor, see if the cable is moving smoothly, you may need a new one if not. If hydraulic bleed and/or change fluid.
Adjust the cable as per manual, nearly always motor end first. If the oil is old it can effect it. simple things first.
