VT250 'Spada' Project Need Advice

Discussion in 'Modifications and Projects' at netrider.net.au started by Pingas G, Apr 20, 2010.

  1. I bought myself a seized vt250 spada the other week. Making a little project out of it and this is my first project of the kind. I want to keep the bike relatively original but i want it to be mine and custom it up a little bit.

So far with my mate we've dropped the engine out and had a look at the cam chains and the top'end and its looks well oiled and fine so no cles to the cause of seizure yet. Electrics are all fine and cosmetically the bike looks fatastic.

As for mods its already got a aftermarket slip-on and indicators plus a few flashes of carbon fibre. Im going to cut and weld a straight thru. Also probably get rid of the rear fender and put LED's inside the original tail light.

Any one got performance and/or cosmetic modification that are great on the 89' spada? Will be appreciated. I'll put some pics up and keep this thread updated if anyones interested in the project.
  2. Hey mate, definitely keep posting up your progress. I haven't done any major mods to mine but some inspiration wouldn't go astray. All I've done to mine is cut the rear fender a bit so its a lot cleaner, changed my indicators to stock Hyo ones (they were lying around not being used and look heaps tidier), changed my mirrors.

My two biggest changes I want to make is 1, change the exhaust, and 2, change my headlight. I want to put on twin dominator headlights (http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9737/dsc01966smallvn6.jpg & http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Twin-Streetf...mQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item563163b1b1). The biggest problems I see with these is if they will fit, are they legal and because the stock headlight houses all the wiring, whether these will.

Anyway, just some food for thought. Aussies streetfighters could probably give you a whole lot of inspiration
  3. Yeah i had a look at those head lights too, they look great but i also like the stock light so its not a priority. Was thinking about the bar-end mirrors but i think im going to try and wait until i fix up the engine first.

i got quite a bit of inspiration from this guys vtr 250 (http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/forum/f16/mods-my-vtr250-31909/). His head lights seem to fit perfectly and i would think the VTR and VT have similar wiring patterns and it looks amazing.

Might eventually re-shape and upholster the seat, not too dramatically.

Anyway sometime this week I'll upload before photos and how the bike looks now in pieces.

    Thanks for the reply
