[vic] Mansfield to Benalla - Bad patch

Discussion in 'Hazardous Road Condition Reports' started by jstava, May 17, 2013.

  1. Just a note to all that might travel that road. There is a diabolically slippery patch in the road in the Northbound lane in the vicinity of Swanpool. I don't remember whether it was North or south of the village.

It shows up as a black patch, in an otherwise grey road surface. It is on a straight bit of road and is maybe 15 or 20 metres long. It is like ice when wet and raining. While the road is signposted slippery when wet, it's not too bad as a whole, it is slippery but this patch should have its own sign.

Watch for it. At a steady speed, you will slide, wobble wobble. If it was on a right hander, you'd be in the weeds. No chance, but fortunately, its on a straight bit of road. the only thing working on you will be the standard road camber, but even it will put you a bit out.
  2. Sounds like a diesel spill. Maybe worth reporting to Vicroads?
