[VIC] LAMS and project bikes

Discussion in 'Modifications and Projects' started by bymannan, Dec 3, 2015.

  1. I have the urge to do something with my hands. I don't have much room for a car project and pottery puts me to sleep (I think it's the wet clay). Anyway, it was decided that I'll start a bike project. Now, the bike has to be LAMS bike.

The question is if I can modify it cosmetically without structural changes and still call is LAMS? Changes most likely be new seat, cosmetic tail change, change lights, remove all fairings, etc... No frame changes or suspensions changes.

If that is not allowed I guess I'll have to restore something to it's original state, which is also nice but less exciting.

    Any thoughts?

  2. My understanding of LAMS regulations is simple:
Power to weight ratio including a 90kg rider, not to exceed 150kw / tonne.

Everything else is OK, as long as you don't contravene ADRs.
What kind of project did you have in mind?

Remember, if no photos, than it never happened...
  3. Thanks!

Leaning towards cx500 to tracker. It's like ugly duck to swan kinda bike. My only concern being new rider is that it's a bit big and heavy, no?
  4. I think your out of luck technically mate
