[VIC] Future of Hoddle Street

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' started by TonyE, Apr 13, 2010.

  1. Anyone have any ideas on this? If so go here

  2. I reckon about another 8 lanes should do it. :p

I've often wondered whether sticking the mother of all underground car parks under Clifton Hill somewhere, running entries to it straight off the Eastern, NOT charging for parking and sticking a semi-express light rail down the middle of Punt Rd and onto the Victoria and Wellington Pde tram lines would get some of the traffic off it.

Cost? Lots. But short of putting another deck on the whole bloody length of it...
  3. Wouldn't be a problem if they just got rid of the cars.
  4. elevated expressway linking Eastern to M1
  5. Didn't they come up with a grand plan a couple of years ago to make every second intersection an overpass?
  6. 1 lane each way with those hideous tram stops in the middle i think.
  7. Plenty of comments calling for something just like that.
It concerns me because I work in the area, but (apart from bus lane use) I don't think it's particularly a motorcycle issue.
