V-strom Backfire

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by babislak, Mar 31, 2008.

  1. Hi.
    I own a V-strom 1000. I bought it brand new and I've done around 9000km.
Around 2 months ago I did not put the ususal good unleaded that I put since I bought the bike but I used Unleaded 91 (BP).
I'm not sure if thats what started the problem but my bike had a rattling noise and it switched off when I pressed the break and lower the gear. When i went back to good unleaded the rattling noise went away but now by bike backfires when I ride in low km's with a high gear. Also, sometimes it still switches off. Someone told me that this is normal when you ride in high gears on low km. Does anybody have the same problem? Any suggestions please.

  2. Hmm, my 650 gives me a pop from time to time when I'm heavy on the throttle then drop back quickly because the traffic in front is slowing. Likewise my engine is a rattly little biatch.
