Transfer of Rego Late

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' started by spongesam, Mar 11, 2006.

  1. What happens if the transfer of registration is put through later than 14 days?
(eg: 2 months late, for VIC reg transfer btw)
(Friend is about to attempt this)

Reading the transfer form... it says that the forms must be in, within 14 days and that "the above is a legal requirement"

I would like to know what will or could happen?
Will a new roadworthy be required?

(trying to find out for a mate :( )

  2. AFAIK, a new roadworthy would be required as they are only valid for 30 days.

As far as the transfer goes, so long as any dates on the form are within the 14 day period (ie, date fo sale etc), I'd say you'd be able to get away with it.

Any camera fines, parking tickets however will have to be borne by the original owner up until the date of transfer though.
