To service before or after

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by randy_andy, Jan 2, 2008.

  1. Guys,

Doing a track day at Phillip Island in a few weeks and the bike is due for a service. Is it wise to service the bike before or after the track day?
  2. i would do an oil & filter before, and then full service after :)
  3. Depending on what you mean by a service I would definately do it before. Your bike will be at high revs during the day and fresh oil and filter is a minimum.

I would change oil and filter, check brake pads, change brake fluid (if it hasn't been done recently or looks dirty), check all major nuts and bolts and drain/change coolant (if it hasn't been done recently).

Maybe someone else can add to that if I missed something.

  5. My approach to track days is that I'm going to be much closer to the limits of the bike in pretty much every dimension that I am on a road ride... So I throw the kitchen sink at the bike before I go to make sure it's in the best possible condition. Give it the full "how's yer father" before you go, that's my advice.
  6. If anyone says, do it after the track day - ignore them.
