Tiny sharp stones stuck in tyre

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by Masakali, Jan 2, 2013.

  1. What does everyone do with tiny sharp stones that manage to imbed themselves into the rubber?

Should I just pull them out with some tweezers and put some rubber cement in the tiny hole?
  2. I may not be any help here but I'm thinking burnout
  3. Doesn't do any harm to pick them out if you've got time on your hands but most people don't. In more than a quarter century around bikes I have yet to see such small stones cause any kind of problem. Nails, bits of stiff wire, the current favourite tek-screws, yes. Little bits of chicken grit, nope, never.

So don't worry about it and spend the time doing something more useful like giving your chain a little extra love or having a look at the state of your brake pads.
