There was a Bill of Rights put up in 2001

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by pro-pilot, Feb 2, 2008.

  1. linky returns an error (as did the daft idea of a Bill of Rights).
  2. yeah only a minority support it from memory greens and socailists would be nice to have one, but not going to happen in our fear dominated nany state society
  3. Victoria actually has a Bill of Rights.

Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (the charter), which was passed by Parliament in July 2006.

*edit* The ACT had one earlier too BTW.
  4. The Hawke government also wanted to introduce one in the mid 80's along with the australia card.
this is nothing new, just keeps getting rehashed every so often.
    Meh! :?
  5. I wouldn't mind seeing a Bill of Rights for individuals as an up-to-date extension of our constitution.

    Something like

"An individual shall not be prosecuted via evidence derived from a device that is not certified to comply with the National Weights and Measures Act."

    -would be a good start...
  6. is Bill of Rights related to Joe Average?
  7. No. He is "Bill Posters Prosecuted" cousin.
