THe latest toy

Discussion in 'Modifications and Projects' at netrider.net.au started by bonox, Mar 27, 2006.

  1. I have a new toy.

It is 65 years old. It has two connecting rods (well, in my possession anyway)
, makes your knees go weak when you hear it and will have the epa nuts after me when i find the rest of it.

1648ci makes a harley look like a model aircraft engine.

for reference, the little ends are about the same diameter as many car journal or big-end bearings. Just need to find space in the pool room :)

For those not in the know, this is a pair of connecting rods from a Mark 66 Rolls Royce Merlin engine. V12, 1500hp, 27litres.

Or i could try wedging them into bike - hmm, Honda VTR586735RR. Whaddaya reckon?
  2. There was a guy who built a 4.5L v-twin bike from a cut-down Merlin engine, remember seeing it for sale. From the width of the rear tyre it looked like it had only been designed for drag racing though.
Edit: Found a website on the bike here
  3. thanks jd - i can be done :)
  4. that thing must sound like a truck coming

let alone the length of the Belt
 gawd if that let go
