The Definative Mix Tape - Gentlemen, Start Your i-Pods

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by Spiky, May 22, 2005.

  1. I read an article recently where Stephen King (the author) gave a list of his best 14 songs that everyone should have on their cd or i-pod. I hadn't heard of alot of them, but it was a great choice and broadened my mucical horizons. Soooooo................

If you were asked to add to the definative mix cd, what would be your contribution? One song only, and choose carefully, as I'll probably go to the trouble of downloading it.

    I'll start the ball rolling:

    1. Fool's Gold - The Stone Roses
  2. For a bit of attitude:

"Bad Horsie" off Steve Vai's "Alien Love Secrets"

Turn it up reeeeeal loud, hurt your speakers.
  3. Radar Love - Golden Earring
One Burbon, one Scotch, one beer - John Lee Hooker
    Nationwide - ZZ Top
  4. Cheating......one track only. Like the sound of JLH though.
  5. Heartattack and Vine - Tom Waits

Cause there ain't no such thing as too much blues
  6. November Rain - Guns N Roses

One of a few most played songs on my iPod
  7. Just one is soooo hard. Can I contribute 2? :)

    1. Transvision Vamp - Velveteen
    2. Joe Satriani - Surfin with the Alien

Both are awesome for the twisties :)
  8. Anti-Gravity Love Song - Incubus.
  9. The Glass Prison, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (2002), Dream Theater
  10. It's A Sunshine Day - The Brady Bunch, off the album "The Kids Of The Brady Bunch".

    Thank you.

  11. Lunatic Fringe........Redrider 8)
  12. OH come on djkearns... Surely if you're going to put a Dream Theater song in there it has to be "take the time" off Images and Words?

    Still, ten points!
  13. No argument from me; although I was always a bit of a "Learning to Live" kinda guy myself. I figured something a little heavier would be appropriate for a riding compilation but, having reread the original post, it looks as though it might be for general listening after all.

Spiky, if you're not already aware of DT I'll let you discover the whole "Metropolis" saga by yourself... ;-)

    Thanks! :)
  14. Opeth - Blackwater Park.
Machine Head - Blood of the Zodiac.
  15. Diamond Sea - Sonic Youth
King of the Mountain - Midnight Oil
Holy Grail - Hunters and Collectors
  16. Birdhouse In Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
Science Fiction Double Feature - Me First & the Gimme Gimmes (yes, I know, its a cover, but its cool!)
    The Bell - Mike Oldfield
  17. on the electronic tip - 'busy child' by the crystal method.
  18. WOOO!!! Glad to see there are Steve Vail, Satriani and DT fans in the house. So who's looking forward to dream theatres new albumn "Octavarium"???

  19. Ok if everybody is adding three, my number 1 choice is still,

Heartattack and Vine - Tom Waits, and

    the other 2 would be:

    2. Crystal Ship - The Doors
    3. Casey Jones - The Greatful Dead
  20. Hmmm,

    Some of my faves

White Zombie - Electric Head 2 (Sexsation After Dark remix)
White Zombie - Blood Milk and Sky
Faith No More - Ashes to ashes
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the name of
    Rob Zombie - Superbeast
