The Black Spur Appraisal

Discussion in 'Roads, Touring, Journeys, and Travel' started by Grey Gentry, Oct 13, 2007.

  1. Currently the best surface I've found not on a racetrack. Nice and short...don't get too fatigued. Most corners have good vision.
However, there is a gotcha. At the bottom, the road gives you the impression of plenty of lane width, but it narrows down the further you go up.
    Take care.

  2. Huh! You mean its not a race track? .............

    I agree.
  3. I've rode it once in each direction, loved it.

I've been told to take the Reefton Spur if you are heading south on Sunday afternoon as the Black Spur gets packed with traffic.

    has anyone else heard this?
  4. yep, black spur gets pretty busy on the weekend, especially in the afternoon...

reefton is nice but pretty narrow and in my opinion scary :) also, the road surface isn't as nice and it's a fair bit longer...
