Technology from years ago, now being deployed

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by pro-pilot, Feb 11, 2008.

  1. Just a few articles. Some stem back from 04, which speak of surveillance technologies which are being suggested, that have already been distributed through-out.

  2. We all thought that you had gone away.
  3. When I read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about Microsoft Windows...

But if this is about face recognition software, well, it's not suprising this is a technology they've been playing with for a long time. Face recognition is a very tough nut to crack for computers, although we do it so easily. And that despite our brains being such extremely poor computational devices... but that's because our brains, tiny though they are, are extremely specialised towards processing visual information. Basically that's the only thing we do well.
  4. Won't work on me!

  5. One actual proposed use for "old" technology was something I read about the space station possibly utilising wireless power transfer (Telsa's model from over a 100 years ago)
