Tawonga pub gone!

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by Mouth, Dec 5, 2011.

  1. "An historic pub in Victoria's high country has been destroyed by fire. The Country Fire Authority was alerted to the blaze at the Bogong Hotel in Tawonga, just east of Bright, about 12.20am. When crews arrived the building was well alight. CFA Operations Manager Mark Owens said eight fire trucks were on scene and about 40 fire fighters battled to get the fire under control. They extinguished the main blaze by about 3.30am. Mr Owens said the building on the Kiewa Valley Highway, which housed a pub, bistro, function room and about six hotel rooms had been completely destroyed. He said the hotel was about 125 years old."

  2. Sad, some great memories of and at that pub :(
  3. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
  4. Bugger, as they say in the classics...
  5. I'm pretty sure I've had a jar or two at this place.

    Break out the black armbands.

  6. Have been back and forth past there a few times. It was always one of the landmarks.
  7. Damn. I hope it's not by some idiot with a fetish for burning things. :(
  8. Tragedy of epic proportions. When riding the Mt Beauty road, Tawonga Gap road, Hotham and GAR, it was a good food and beverage spot whilst staying at the hotel that was walking distance down the hill.

    Kinda sad now... ;-(
  9. Deliberately lit, they're saying today.
