Suzuki DR250S 1982 - Headlight Not Working

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by leather_pet, May 9, 2006.

  1. Hi folks,

I recently bought a 1982 Suzuki DR250S. It's a great old trailie with no real brakes or power but it beats walking!

Anyway, everything is working except the headlight. I've replaced the bulb without success.

Does anyone know if this model uses a magneto to run the headlight? I've tried searching for a manual but I can't find a thing. Before I start butchering the wiring I'd love to get my hands on a wiring diagram.

    It's a 6V system by the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Buy a cheap multimeter.

Check if you are getting power to the terminal points at the headlight and work back from there.

If it hasn't got a battery then it'l have a magnito (which I suspect is the case).

I think it should have a capacitor in there too, but don't quote me on that, as I'm no expert on kick start/batteryless electrics.
  3. Thanks for the quick response folks!

The bike does have a battery. I try that link.
