Strange response from a local distributor

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by lui, Apr 20, 2011.

  1. I was looking for a motorcycle part so I called the usual bike shops to check availability. I also emailed the distributor to make sure they have the part in the country.

They responded pretty quick, but surprisingly, instead of sending me a list of stockists, they sent me a compatibility chart showing the part numbers of compatible product from other brands. They also suggested ordering from overseas. May be they were just being helpful, but still it was odd to recommend competitors' products or even suggesting overseas.

Anyway, I eventually found a bike shop who has the part in stock, so I just went to pick it up.
  2. Maybe they were out of stock and being very nice. Or a newbie on the desk. But I am thinking the 1st one.
  3. Or going under due to everyone buying from the US... The mind boggles.

    What was it for?
  4. PM'd (don't want to get anyone into trouble).
