Stolen, '98 R1 from St Kilda

Discussion in 'Stolen Bike Register' started by Johnny O, Mar 5, 2010.

  1. It's been a few years now but maybe it may have surfaced? My '98 R1 was stolen off the footpath in St Kilda (Alma Road) during an evening thunderstorm.

It is was originally the white with red trim model but the panel beater that owned it before me changed all the red trim to a mid blue. It would be the only one in the world with this colour combo.

    My mods were...

    Ohlins rear shock.
    White Power rear spring (white).
One-off Daytona steering damper mounted across the front of the headstem.
    Chrome Tingate handlebars.
    Megacycle oval titanium muffler.
Rear rim had been cut & welded to reduce width down to 5.5" (the only one in the world).

I'll pay $1000 for any info that leads to the return of it.
  2. What would you do with a 12 yo. bike, if you got it back?
  3. Good luck with it mate. Just out of intrest why the narrowed rear?
  4. Hey Johnno O, that sounds like an awesome bike...and my kind of bike - could whoever stole it flick me a PM, and name your price. Cheers, TheYak

  5. Good Luck Johnny.
I hope that you get a few leads on what happened to your bike.
I had a YZ 80J stolen from me when I was a kid.
I had suspicians of what happened to it but I never got it back.
If a bike gets pinched it really sucks.
