Steering/Suspension Service Intervals

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by Haggismaen, Jan 9, 2007.

  1. Hey all.

Does anyone know the general recommended service intervals (KMs or time) for the front forks and steering head (bearing and anything else of importance)?

I cannot find the advised intervals for my bike in the owners or service manual.

    Thanks in advance.
  2. Depends on teh bike. Kawasaki call for stering head and various frame bearings to be lubed /cleaned on teh GTR every 50k kms from memory.
My steering head bearing on the GTR was toast at 75k though, corrosion and lack of lube killed it. The Z was fine at 75k though.

    Regards, Andrew.
  3. gpx250 supplement says

front fork oil change every 30ks
swingarm, pivot, uni trak every 10ks
steering stem bearing lubricate every 20ks or 2 yrs

  4. *Too eager on the clicky*
  5. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Time to get them looked at I think, I have always thought the handlebar movement wasn't the smoothest and anything that might improve the budget suspension on the VTR250 would be welcome.
