Starting problems

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by TAX123, Mar 25, 2009.

  1. Had trouble starting the thing in the last few weeks getting harder, so I did the normal servicing, Changed the Oil/Filter, 4 new spark plugs, new air filter,
but still the same shit, chuga chuga chuga nothing!
yesterday arvo I opened up the airbox, removed the new filter and sprayed the wd 40 from a distance into the air box filling it up with fumes from the spray, hit the start and bang came to life in an instant, Is it a fuel prob, or an air prob ?

  2. If it has a choke I would check that
  3. carbie clean and balance time
  4. ill try and clean out the carbs, but cant do the balance, if the clean out doesnt work will take it to the shop

do you own a balancing tool? how much are they ?
  5. from $90 and worth it.

Alternatively you can make your own. There are threads about that. My tip for them is to get plastic needle valves from an aquarium.

this will damp the flow and thus allow you to run coloured water.
