Stainless or Wool packing in Mufflers - What is better?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by Beefcake, Jul 14, 2006.

  1. I've noticed that Staintune (and perhaps other makes) use stainless packing in their mufflers. Why would they do this? Stainless packing would make the muffler heavier and get hotter. Does stianless packing in mufflers produce a better note?

The reason I ask is because I like the design and look of the staintunes but I am wonderng what benefit I'll get from stainless packing.

By the way this is not for my ZZR  . I am just looking around and dreaming of the perfect sytem to put on my next bike.......a V-Twin

  2. For a start it won't corrode and should have a far longer life.
  3. As Tony mentioned, MUCH longer life span with stainless steel wool.
Potentially you could clean and reuse it too.
  4. Dosent Burn like fine Steel Wool or rust

Dosent Disentergrate Like Fibreglass into bits and blow out the back

In short Quality Product Locally Made
