SR500: airfilters

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by mattb, Mar 23, 2010.

  1. G'day All.

I ditched the airbox with its filter that was always going loose, for a K&N RU1700 on my carb. But I'm interested in finding a bolt-on filter that replicates the stock one in terms of air flow, rather than dealing with all the re-jetting issues. Can anybody recommend something? It's '78 Yamaha SR500 with an SR400 engine and a 2001 OEM VM32 carb (that's the standard size for the old 400s), not sure of the carb flange OD as I'll be buying a new universal mikuni VM32.
