Sprockets and chain, Did I get a good price?

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by Manya, Jul 27, 2007.

  1. Hey all. on tuesday I noticed the chain of my across was looking loose. I measured the play it had at 2 inches

Anyway, took it to my local mechnic who said that the chain, and probably the sprockets need changing (it was on the last chain adjustment).

I told them to "do what needs to be done".

Picked up the bike today and was charged $260 ($70 was for labour). They changed the 2 sprokets and fitted a new chain. Is that a good price or could I have got it done cheaper?
  2. That depends upon what brand/type of items were used.

If cheap chain and sprockets from the cheapest chinese maker was used, you got ripped!

If it was say RK, DID chain and x-ring or O-ring with good quality sprockets then that would be fair enough.
  3. RK 520MO chain
    JTR Front sproket
    Suz rear sproket

That's all the invoice tells me.
  4. Its a fair deal I think.
    Sleep easy tonight
  5. Chain at the shops costs about $130, sprockets usually around $70 a side. So it seems fair.
