spongey front brake

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by brewbagz, Sep 26, 2006.

  1. Hi, i have just finished restoring my GS650G Katana and went to bleed the front system to get some brakes happening. The front master cylinder leaked and the brake felt spongey no matter how much you tried bleeding any air out, that might be left. I replaced the master cylinder and the brakes are still spongey and if i isolate the master cylinder from the calipers by clamping the line all the spongeyness dissapears??? What can go wrong with the calipers to cause this or am i doing something wrong???

  2. Chances are that theres an air bubble in the caliper. unbolt the calipers and move it so that its the highest point.

Dumb question, are you using a tube from the nipple to make sure that there arent any air bubbles leaking back in?
