Sooo, I think I have become a house husband!

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by typhoon, Aug 26, 2006.

  1. Does this sound like a house husband? Bakes cakes during the day, does teh laundry, cleans the house, paints walls, cook dinner, wash up cleans up yard etc?
I don't mind, I kind of enjoy it actually!
I am sure the novelty will wear off though.

    Regards, Andrew.
  2. Awesome!

I'm the woman of the house, so to speak, and today, I:

1 Went for my first ride on dirt
2 Made brownies as a cake
3 Made a roast lamb dinner
    4 Decorated the brownie cake
5 Watched DOOM while doing 3 and 4
6 Got drunk on mead while surfing Netrider

  3. Mead? You're not into the whole midevil thing are you? My old ex was into that, mead is an acquired taste for sure!
I got drunk on beer whilst eating home made bolognese, fiancee is away and she doesn't like tomatoes, so dogs and I get to have pasta!

    Regards, Andrew.
  4. I am a little. I love mead. It's like drinking something between wine and port. Both of which my parents drank while I was young.

Dad now makes his own port, with his kegs. he's got a 20L and a 10L and he fills them each year. He usually adds something to them, as well. This year, it's the vanilla Galliano. I look forward to trying it.

If I had any, I'd be drinking Vodka or Cointreau.
  5. Actualy, I don't drink much anymore, three beers is about my limit! I do feel like some rum though.
I thought proper mead had herbs in it?

    Regards, Andrew.
  6. I really don't know. All I know is that the stuff I drink tastes awesome.

I'm not much of a drinker either. Sometimes, though...
  7. I wish i was a house husband but i work fulll damn time . Looking for a house to buy , then get my work to rent it out to some good tennents , then when they pay it off for me , retire . about 40+years ago more , houses were around 15k now there selling for 300+ so when i hit 40 20 more years i hope my houses is doubled its price
  8. Yeah yeah, I worked full time too. I am enjoying the break, I really am. Just came out of an extremely stressful job.
I am working at home, on the house, which is making me money by increasing value when I sell it, to build a house on our block of land.
If you can't afford a house where you are, buy elsewhere. Buy near a university and rent it out.
It doesn't matter where it is if you are just going to rent it out, and it won't pay itself off, you will no way cover mortgage with rent, wherever you buy.

    Regards, Andrew.
  9. Ah, house buying...

I can't (and can) wait. I'm looking forward to it. I wanna be a stay-home mum, who also works from home. I'd go nuts with little to do.
  10. You have to have something to do, otherwise it's very easy to go nutso!
Home based busienss is good, I am sure in your line of work you could contract to people part time.
I'm looking at going part time in Canberra, and doing work from home.

    Regards, Andrew.
  11. jeez, i need to move out already.
my mummy (haha) doesn't do half those things.

    where are MY brownies?!
  12. ATM best time to buy a house. Cheaper , and the people just ant to move, they take anything for the house . If you do get a loan , you dont have to pay for a month , so move people straight in. you will have your first month coverd
  13. No brownies for you! :p
  14. MEad is fantastic stuff, a mate and i make a descent betch, still got about 5 liters of the stuff at home.

We use a recipie we got out of an old middle age recipie book.

    very nice ...... and strong
  15. Love to be a house husband... (need a wife first i think :? ) .... and i do think the novelty would wear off at some point...

MEAD? I want mead.... never tasted it, but would like to try it, where do you get it?

I want it in a goblet with a leg of lamb in the otherhand eating it off the bone
  16. i have heard rumors that *some* bottle shops sell a cheap and nasty brand of the stuff...

but as per my post.... we make our own :) i'm sure i can give you a sample at some stage :)
  17. I hope so.

    I've never made it myself.
  18. Hmm... now when did you need an escort for your bike home? ;)

(BTW, is it hard? and whats cost involved in getting a still to make it?)
