Snapped Kickstarter - Replacement?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by rodgerdodger, Jun 28, 2006.

  1. Hey all,

While starting my bike today the kickstarter decided to give it away and snap off. In addition it's snapped off right at the base of the kickstarter meaning I can't wire it back together at all, even just for a half-assed fix. I can't be buggered pushing it around trying to hill start it so I'm just posting to ask about the cost of replacing something like this.

How much time am I looking at being slugged for to fix this and approximately how much would a (a) genuine or (b) aftermarket (if available) kickstarter be? Its for a DT175.

  2. I'd imagine there wouldn't be aftermarket replacements for that sort of thing - but at the same time I can't imagine a genuine replacement being much more than a hundred bucks.
