Smartphone for a video camera?

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by 12RS, Sep 9, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

After looking at the cost of the Go Pros etc, and realising that my smartphone films in full HD, i'm just wondering if anyone's built a mount for their phones in lieu of a dedicated camera.

There are clear waterproof pouches available for about $25 in various places, but mounting it is my main challenge.

    Just checking. Cheers. Dan.

  2. Have a look at Motoradaer, http://motorader.com.au/
Their descriptions mentions you can use it for video recording, depending on the angle of your bars, this might work...
  3. Wow
    Good thinking
  4. I experimented with this to take time lapse footage with my phone. I just pinned it to my chest using a bit of soft plastic. Quick and cheap but worked well. Here is the fotage. https://netrider.net.au/forums/showthread.php?t=127792

Not a permanent solution but could work while you test it out.
  5. Hmm. Interesting suggestions, but I want to be able to charge and navigate at the same time.

I think I need to combine the pouch with a suction cup and clamp system or something and shoot through the windscreen.

I ride a full fairing beemer so the only option is to mount to the tank I think.

I'll post up any success I have. Cheers for the input.
  6. You could try this place:
They have handlebar and fuel tank (suction) mounts, with adapters for iPhones and universal adapters for other smartphones.
