Setting Preload on CBF250? Can you do it?

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by tigerspew, Sep 9, 2010.

  1. Hi guys.

Just got my full license so preparing to get setup to ride with a pillion. Started looking into adjusting the preload on the rear shock of a CBF250. But I cant find anything about it?

Can it even be done on this bike? The bike manual makes no mention of how to adjust preload, but there is mention of this ability on several websites that refer to the bikes specs?

For example this site suggest it has preload adjustment

Honda website makes no mention of it
  2. If it has it, there will be a C spanner in your tool kit for adjusting it, simply turn the collar a notch at a time to raise the preload.

There will be something like 8-10 steps, the further up it pushes the spring, the more preload you have.

    Hope that helps.
  3. The CBF has a none adjustable rear shock.
  4. The tool kit was missing from my bike when purchased second hand, so could not check for the C spanner.

E2W - thanks, I suspected this may have been the case.
