Seat Split

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by Bigjula, Nov 11, 2012.

  1. My seat has started splitting. It's only small at the moment maybe 0.5 to 1cm long. I want to get on to it to stop it splitting further. I was thinking of using a rubber bike tyre patch but would prefer something that looks a little less conspicuous. Black silicon, rubber cement??

  2. Duct tape it to stop it spreading and get a cheap replacement seat if/when you sell the bike.
  3. Synthetic seat = wet-suit glue :)

You can get black wet-suit glue for about $10 online. Couple of things, wear gloves when you apply it, use it sparingly and contemplate an applicator similar to a paddle pop stick. As it's for neoprene it has some give in it for everyday use.

  4. Yeah Cheers.
I found some aquaseal on ebay for about 6 bucks. It's clear so I'll try to add some black powder or something. Also thinking of adding some sort of black mesh as reinforcement. I've heard it's pretty runny so I'll tape around it.
