Schumacher hospitalised after crash

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' started by grange, Feb 12, 2009.

  1. Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after crashing during superbike testing at a race track in the Spanish city of Cartagena, local officials said.

The online edition of sports daily Marca, citing sources at the circuit, said the 40-year-old had broken two ribs, complained of pains in his neck and wrist and was unconscious for several minutes after the accident.

The newspaper said Schumacher underwent a brain scan "which ruled out serious injuries despite the strong impact his head had against the ground."

A spokesman for the Virgen de Arrixaca Hospital in the nearby city of Murcia confirmed he had been taken to the hospital but was not able to provide information regarding the extent of his injuries.
  2. doesnt he drive cars?
  3. And this is bike related............................ HOW?
  4. ...during superbike testing... that's how
  5. So what are we gonna discuss then?
  6. That Schumie should have stuck to F1
  7. Hope he's ok.

I wonder which he enjoys more? The bike or F1?
  8. Im a big fan of him, and his work..
I honestly think, the MotoGP is crazy but F1 i would be better by a long shot, less injury prone most of the time.

Still i think he's a winner, hope he recovers well enough to continue racing whatever vehicle it be.
  9. I would be very surprised if his team do not lay down the law after this incident. ISTR a lot of actors / sports people have clauses in their contracts restricting certain dangerous activities including motorcycling.
  10. Umm, Schumacher retired from F1 a number of years ago. He started racing bikes a couple of years ago, firstly in the BMW Boxer(?) cup, now I guess in one of the Superbike series. He's not under contract as an F1 driver anymore.
  11. Err... right, that would be it then :)
