Roads in Alice Springs

Discussion in 'Roads, Touring, Journeys, and Travel' started by Dan.adl, Jul 8, 2013.

  1. Having just made a questionable life decision I will be living in Alice Springs for at least the next 6 months.
Coming from Adelaide I have to ask where are all the good riding roads hidden?
I am used to being a bit spoilt given the Adelaide hills. Do any locals have any favorite stretches or loops?

At only 150/200km in a tank exploring could turn into being murdered so any info on petrol around the outskirts would be appreciated as well.

  2. I lived up there for 3 years and unfortunately it is all pretty much 'gunbarrel' type roads and a long time between drinks as far as petrol stations go. From memory, the next fuel stop south of Alice is Stuarts Well which is about 100km. So for a roadbike I dunno if you'll find much that is very interesting.
